MotionNode v1.4 Released

We released MotionNode Version 1.4. This is a major update that supports the most recent MotionNode IMU hardware.

MotionNode IMU Updates

We are pleased to announce an update to our line of MotionNode Miniature Inertial Measurement Units.

The enclosure is smaller. The measurement resolution of the accelerometer and gyroscope is increased. The range of the gyroscope is now 2000 degrees per second.

The new hardware is intended as a drop in replacement for the previous generation. We will continue to offer the previous version for compatibility.

MotionNode v1.2.6 Released

We released MotionNode Version 1.2.6. We added a pure inertial accelerometer and gyroscope tracking system. This is also a service release and includes some general fixes and improvements.

Software Development Kit (SDK) Update

We released an update to our Software Development Kit (SDK). The update is intended to support additional platforms.

The SDK also supports an update to our C API library. We added some functionality for control over sample buffering.

MotionNode v1.2.5 Released

We released MotionNode Version 1.2.5. We added support for the Windows 7 operating system, both 32 and 64 bit editions. This is also a service release and includes some minor fixes and improvements.

MotionNode Sensor Updates

We are pleased to announce an update to our line of MotionNode inertial sensors.

The new hardware is intended as a drop in replacement for our current devices. The major difference from the user perspective is that the USB cable is now attached directly to the box.

Native 64-bit Support

We added native support for the x86-64 architecture. This is available for the Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems. You can now choose to run the MotionNode software package in 64-bit mode.

The Windows and Linux 64-bit versions come packaged in separate installers. The Mac version is bundled in a Universal application container in one installer.

MotionNode Software Demo

We released a Software Demo for the MotionNode system. The demo software works exactly the same as our regular software package and includes data files captured from our sensors.

Access the recorded data just as if the sensor is plugged into your PC. See working examples of our preview application, data recording, data export, and real time access using our Software Development Kit (SDK).

The demo installer is available on our web site.

MotionNode v1.2 Released

C# .NET Support

Linux x86 Support

Linux x86 now supported as a host platform for the MotionNode
sensors and software.
We have tested the following distributions:

Ubuntu 7.04-7.10
openSUSE 10.3
Fedora Core 8

Note that the Linux version of the MotionNode software currently does not include:

MotionNode Viewer, standalone viewer application
MotionNode Monitor, tray application to monitor device arrival and automatically connect

Variable Sample Rates

We added support for user selectable sample rates to the MotionNode and MotionNode Accel sensors. You can now sample at 50 to 120 Hz (in increments of 10 Hz).

This is part of our v1.0.6 software update. MotionNode devices with serial numbers starting in 1 or 2 are backwards compatible, and only require a software update to enable variable rates. The update is available on our web site. Run the update shortcut in your software install at "Program Files > MotionNode > Tools > Automatic Software Update" to upgrade to the new version.

C Application Programming Interface (API)

We have published a plain C API and library for real-time sensor data access. The C API has no external dependencies, uses only built in types, and is available as a standalone dynamic library suitable for use in applications such as LabVIEW and Matlab.

We have added MotionNode support for three VR tool kits: VR Juggler, Trackd, and VRPN. Use MotionNode as an orientation tracker in your VR application.
